My son got excellent treatment at The Beachcomber. I am a psychologist and former EAP manager for American Airlines, so have had the opportunity to tour and work with many addiction treatment programs around the US. I am so glad Beachcomber was available to my son. The staff is caring and knowledgeable. The small population means every patient is well known and carefully tracked. The program stays close to the 12 Steps and insists that patients take responsibility for their past behavior. I would recommend The Beachcomber to anyone seeking addiction help.
You will not find a more caring group of individuals. The Beachcomber paved the way for many
I went to the beachcomber in September of 2016. I was not ready to get sober but they gave me the tools to get sober and have a long period of sobriety. The only problem was this place was that during the hurricane they just sent us home and I ended up relapsing before finishing the program.
Saved my life!!!! Full of sincerity and love and respect!!
The Beachcomber was a good experience for me. I stayed for 28 days. I have been struggling with addiction for several years and found this place to be very helpful through their approach towards recovery. The staff members were all professional, friendly and helpful - mostly recovering alcoholics/addicts themselves - and the facility was comfortable enough. I believe the Beachcomber has a capacity of 16, with two people to a cabin. The rooms were nice and cleaned frequently. Food was served family-style and was very good as well. In terms of their approach to treating addiction, I found it all to be very practical and vital information. It focused on working a program of action which included following daily spiritual disciplines (prayer, meditation, etc.), willingness, building sober support, and of course AA and the 12 steps. Additionally, I got to work one on one with my therapist and completed readings and assignments which were tailored to each patient's specific case. The Beachcomber also offered alternative groups, such as art therapy, acupuncture, meditation, yoga, movie nights, and a weekly game of charades. They also bring in a chiropractor, physical therapist, and a massage therapist every so often. The Beachcomber also has family sessions which can be helpful in bridging the gap with co-dependency issues. Beach access is three blocks from the facility. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is prepared to commit to sobriety.
The Beachcomber was an amazing experience; everyone there was committed to my recovery. The place his family owned and that is what it felt like. The staff? Wonderful, top-notch professionals and their caring was evident. Of course, being a three- minute walk to the beach was a tremendous lift for each of us daily and the food? Out of this world! This was my first time in treatment and I would refer anyone struggling with addiction to join in recovery at The Beachcomber.
Wonderful setting and great staff.
When I first arrived at The Beachcomber, I was coming to please my family. By the end of my four weeks, I left to finally focus on myself. This program is beyond amazing. It was my first treatment so I don't have anything to compare it to, but boy, I was blessed to go there! There is a 16 bed limit and a strong family atmosphere. Being 25, I was a little nervous walking into a community of a wide variety of ages, but it ended up being so incredible; everyone has each other's backs and you really make deep connections since you are together almost 24/7. All the therapists are in recovery so they can really empathise with the patients; they never judge you or put you down, instead, they spend time working with you to address issues you have been suppressing. I was able to let go of things in my past that I never thought possible. You get amazing food cooked for you 3 times a day, yoga, acupuncture, massage, chiropractic work, super close beach access, etc. That may seem overboard, but you have zero cell phone or TV access so honestly, it keeps your mind on recovery and letting yourself heal physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. You learn about the program and the 12 steps, as well as coping skills, communication skills, etc. Being able to open up in a group of peers has made me a stronger person. I would recommend this place to anyone who is ready to learn and live a better life. Thank you again to all of the staff and community! I love yall so much and see you on the brighter side again soon!
MY EXPERIENCE THERE WAS AMAZING THE STAFF WAS AMAZING I GOT A LOT OUT OF THE TREATMENT PLAN AND INDIVIDUAL THERAPY.. I OWE MY WORK IN RECOVERY TO THIS WONDERFUL CENTER...
My name is Chris Kaufteil. Let me just start out by saying that I was the hopeless variety alcoholic. I am from South Florida and have been through almost every in network facility from Dade to Palm Beach county. I am forever grateful the family owned and operated Beachcomber in Delray Beach along with their Intensive Outpatient program. I choose to come to the Beachcomber in March of 2015. Being my 11th or 12th treatment center in the past 5 years I thought It was going to be another "turn and burn" experience like many other South Florida facilities. Most facilities that I have been through aside from this place was like a factory and that's an understatement. The Beachcomber is unique in a sense that the staff takes a personal interest in your emotional well being along with your physical safety. I am the addict who never had more than 60 days outside of a residential facility. I now have 4 months and its all attributed to God and the 12 steps which were both brought to light by the care and concern of the Beachcomber ambience and staffing. I have never felt so secure and safe to share some of my deeply rooted issues than when I was a client at the Beachcomber. This 16 bed program allowed me the opportunity to work on issues never exposed in previous attempts at other treatment centers. I am now in aftercare though their Intensive Outpatient program and have been for the past 9-10 weeks also participating in the Relapse Prevention workshop. God Bless! Yours Truly, Christopher Kaufteil 118 days clean and sober
The Beachcomber is one of the most established and well recognized Drug and Alcohol treatment centers in South Florida....I know many clients that have successfully completed their program...I am an alumni and the staff is always available with kind loving support with a firm hand which is necessary when trying to tackle addiction issues...it's not in business to provide flat screen TVs and Equine therapy....it's there to provide good sound self analysis as well as a beginners course in the 12 step process of recovery....The Beachcomber is there for you even when you've completed the program they just don't say goodbye and good luck...loved the staff and owner they really care while keeping a safe and productive environment...If your looking for a place to heal and battle your addictions I highly recommend this facility....enough said....
I was a patient at The Beachcomber in 2003. My addiction was cocaine and alcohol. This was my first time in treatment and I have stayed sober since because I used the tools that I was given after I was discharged from The Beachcomber. I took advantage of all of the alumni programs and volunteered to drive patients to meetings for 71/2 years as well as working my AA program. The Beachcomber has always been there for me and has helped me through rough spots when I asked for help. 3 years ago I made a decision to enter the addiction field and earn my CAP. Today I am a therapist at The Beachcomber residential and Beachcomber IOP. Having worked at several other facilities and seeing how they are run I an honestly say this is the best program for a person who is serious about getting sober and starting a new life.
